- Hi, I believe one of the best is WYSIWYG Web Builder. It's easy to use and is rich in features. Check it at www.pablosoftwaresolutions.com (free for non-commercial use).
- try this one http://www.webstudio.com/
- I know other designers will rip me for this, but I would say Frontpage by Microsoft is the easiest for a beginner to use. However, if you ever want to expand it later and make it more professional, don't use Frontpage since it notorious for bad underlying code and encouraging Microsoft specific features that might not work well in all browsers. Adobe/Macromedia Dreamweaver might be your next choice. It is similar to Frontpage, but is better at making sure your code and features work in all browsers. I've messed around with Adobe GoLive a little, but found it very confusing. Others might have had a different experience. There is also always handcoding. Handcoding in a text editor like Homesite is the best way to go since you will have complete control of your code. All WYSIWYG editors screw around with your underlying code that can cause you unwanted results. And even when you use a WYSIWYG editor, you'll need to know a little HTML to get the best benefits and make things just right.
- If you are familiar with Microsoft Office products, then Microsoft Frontpage may be your best bet. Macromedia Contribute is also good for the beginner. After these two, there are a number of fairly good WYSIWYG website creators. Many offer free trials, and I recommend downloading a few demos from websites like Download.com or Tucows.com. When you try the demos, pay attention to degree of intuitiveness. In my opinion, intuitiveness is the most important feature for a beginner.
- If you are a beginner, it's nice to not have to spend a lot of money in the beginning. I would download two free programs. http://www.nvu.com is a webpage editor and does a pretty good job. Cleaner code than frontpage and the display of the wysiwyg is better than recent versions of dreamweaver and FP. Another program to downoad is notepad plus plus. or notepad ++ Search for it on the internet. As you are learning code, it will be much more valuable than notepad. It has text highlighting and a tabbed interface.
