  1. If your computer is running on Windows, of course your OS is Microsoft. You can try http://www.blogspot.com/. There they have several templates for blogs for you. If you really want to built your own blog, blogspot allows that too. Most importantly, it's free of charge. Otherwise, you can go for web hoster like Brinkster (http://www.brinkster.com/). They provide free hosting, but with some limitation. They also provide web builder facility and online support. Quite useful.
  2. If you intend to start your blog, try the best host of 2008 at: http://bluehost-plan.atspace.com It cost $6.95/month. (Free Domain + Forum + Blog/wordpress + Poll + GuestBook... and many many others) All websites today currently run on either a Windows web server or a Unix-based server. The vast majority of websites run on a Unix-based platform as Unix has a strong reputation for security and web server performance. With standard (static) HTML-based websites, the web hosting platform doesn't make much difference. When it does make a difference, however, is when the website uses a dynamic scripting technology such as ASP (A Microsoft based technology), or PHP / PERL (Unix based technologies). A Windows-based hosting solution will run a Microsoft Windows server with IIS (Internet Information Server), and is necessary to run an ASP / ASP.NET scripted website. A Unix-based platform is typically used for PHP, Perl, and most other types of websites. Basically, unless your website uses ASP (pages ending in the .asp extention), Windows hosting is not neccessary. You can run Windows , Linux or Mac OS on your computer, it doesn't matter. Web hosts servers are compatible! ******IMPORTANT******* * This service was awarded as the best Web Host 2008. * If you sign up for this service you will have $100 credits to advertise your Blog with the google & yahoo search engines for free! This way you can traffic to your created blog. ************************* Good Luck!
  3. exhosting.info They can set it up for you if you don't know how, and they have auto-installers and many CSS Layouts to choose from. They were my first host, and they were always fast, free, and great.
  4. www.blogger.com is really good. but it has that '.blogspot ' tail with it.(ex;.yourname.blogspot.com) if you do not like that, choose a good hosting service like ultrawebsitehosting,IPOWER or ANHosting and choose your domain name . More details and comparison of the above said hosting services on my blog http://hostingandbeyond.blogspot.com/2008/05/hosting-your-website.html happy blogging

  7. Hi, Depending on what you want to do you may not need a web host at all. For example, the simplest option would be to go to www.blogger.com and just create a free blog there. If you want something a little more impressive though I would recommend Hostgator as they're cheap but are very reliable and will help you to install your own excellent Wordpress blog with just one press of a button so you won't need any web building skills at all! I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they're very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I'll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. For less than $8 a month you get: 600 Gigs of Web Hosting Space 6,000 Gigabytes of Bandwidth Host UNLIMITED Websites 99.9% Uptime Guarantee 45 Day Money Back Guarantee CGI, PHP 4 & 5, RoR, Perl MySQL, SSH, SSL, IMAP, POP cPanel Hosting 24/7/365 Upgraded Support You can find them at http://www.webhostgator.info Hope that helps. Regards, Kirstie
  8. Hi, good question.... There's a lot of options for you if you want to create your own blog so I'll just tell you what works best for me... I basically create my blogs using WordPress.org. It's all free to use, and there's thousands of great templates you can choose from too. However keep in mind that you'll need your own domain name too. I host my blogs with these guys: http://hurleypix.com/blue You can go in there and get your site hosted for about $6-7 per month, and a domain name for about $9. By the way, they also offer unlimited domains so that's a nice touch if you are thinking of creating more than one blog in the future... I also created a no-cost report about setting up your own WordPress blog and you can download that from my blog here: http://photomarketeers.com (Look for the post called 'Is There Really 10 Million WordPress Templates?' As for operating system.... I would say Mac, but in all honesty I don't think it matters that much. (However I could be wrong!) But taking a shot at it I would say Linux. :) The great thing about the web host I mentioned is that they have a very friendly 'live' help desk (no matter what questions you have), and WordPress also has a fantastic support and help forum too... I hope that helps a little... Any other questions just let me know. :)
  9. Hi, I know this site mydosty.com, the rate there is 99 cents/month. Check out the site for details.
  10. For a blog begginer, you may need Linux hosting accounts because most of the scripts like Wordpress and Joomla are developed using PHP language which runs exceptionally better in Linux servers. Plus, if you compare linux and windows hosting plans, you will notice that windows hosting plans are more expensive. Check My Webbie Hosting's Lite Plan. It only costs $3.95/month, and its features include 1.5 G disk space, 150 G data transfer, 30+ preinstalled PHP scripts (including Wordpress), FREE domain name, 50 email accounts, etc. You can also try their control panel demo for free. Plus, they have very good customer support.
