how hard is it to get a job in web design?

I'm currently studying at uni in my 3rd yr and doing a work placement. so its important I know what i want to do later on so i can get hands on experience now. i know a bit of programming, more than your average whizz kid. i don't really like major programming but i still learn it cos i'll need it no matter what. however i've heard that a career in computer programming is useless as new languages are developed evryday, and what i learn and get loads of experience in today will be useless tomorrow. I love designing software and GUI and i have a bit of experience in web template design so i thought a career in web design would be better suited to me. But i what i want to know is a career in web design worthwhile, what is the supply of jobs available as opposed to the demand for the them, and is this sort of career short term? sorry for the long explanation

  1. It's not an easy job to get right now because everyone thinks they can do it. If it is something you are really interested in you should be taking computer art classes along with your programming classes.
