What, in your opinion, is the best web design software for a Mac computer?
I prefer pretty basic programs. I've worked with Sharepoint Designer, Microsoft Expressions, etc. I really like being able to 'split' and edit both the design and the HTML of the page at the same time. I don't really like iWeb because it seems to just make you stick to a template. Any ideas?

- Use a text editor to write the site and a web server (on your computer) and a couple of browsers (at least IE and one gecko engine) to see it. WYSIWYG software doesn't render the page the same way browsers do (it can't, since IE doesn't render the same way that rral browsers do, and your site has to look good in both). If you must use WYSIWYG, NVU (http://www.net2.com/nvu/download.html ) and Kompozer (http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=kompozer&filename=kompozer-0.7.10-mac.dmg&use_mirror= ) are both free, and both come in Mac versions. They don't make you stick to anything.
- Design your site in Photoshop first so you know what it will look like at the end - this is what Web Design is. Then you want to develop your site - cut up the graphics etc. For best practise, use a combination of HTML/CSS. Start out in Expression Web to get a feel for it, and then progress onto more pure tools like notepad. WYSIWYG is never what you get in website development applications, especially cross browser.
