According to Word Tracker, the amount of Internet searches being for website design and search engine optimization is as follows: Search Engine Optimization (seo) = 3,339 Website Design (web design) = 4,337 So, according to this information, I would have to say more people are searching for Website design than they are for SEO. I would have to go with a Website Design business being in more demand at this time.
That's a very interesting question. I think both 'should' be equally in demand because one without the other is pointless. Allow me to explain; A poorly designed website (of which there are so many) can be promoted to death but still not generate results because visitors find it hard to use or is simply does not provide quality information or is not a pleasant design... Etc (so many ways a website can fail it's visitors). A great website might get the WOW factor when anyone sees it but if it is not found, then the investment of time and money designing the site was wasted. The two go hand in hand. High search engine ranking + Easy to use, well designed website = lots of happy traffic. Lots of happy traffic + a website that converts into sales = More Profit. However. Website design + SEO = only about 40% of the way towards real online success. It takes so much more than a nice design and good rankings.
Well only a small percentage of website owners either do SEO themselves or employ a specialist so i'd say that website design is much more in demand. Saying that demand for SEO is high and is increasing.
Even though there are relevant high search results for keywords such as web design and seo, in which web design appears to be very prominent at this time, my personal experience in the field of SEO leads me to believe that SEO is steadily increasing as a viable career opportunity and is still an integral partner in ecommerce promotions. Both are good field and the is always a demand for both. Its good when a person has a knowledge of both as both has to go hand in hand. Make sure you have the right talent before stepping in to any one of this field. For designing you should have creativity and also strong in HTML/CSS coding For SEO you have to keep on updating your knowledge about what is happening in the search industry.
