I want to start a web hosting company of my own not dedicated servers but my own server?

I want to purchase a server of my own and start a web hosting company. Somehow I got the configuration of the server. The problem now is how can I register the domain name. what is cpanel is that enough for registering domain name and hosting websites? Is there anyother procdure that i should follow?

1. The cpanel is probably for the website. I personally run sites out of my house from a server computer, with Linux. Linux is free and legal to dl off the internet. Just get apache2 and learn how to set it up...Have fun.

As far as the server goes, any decent computer will work, and by all means use a server operating system. Don't go trying to host websites on a Windows XP machine. Beyond the physical layer, the most important thing if you want to host websites, especially if you want to host multiple domains on one connection is LOTS of bandwidth. If you have the availability, go for a dedicated server connection which will provide maximum sustained bandwidth.

7. Hello, Cpanel is just a Panel through which you can auto generate hosting pack on your server. For booking / registering domains you need to approach some ICANN accredited registrar.
