Web Hosting with yahoo.. Will I Be Able...?

First of all I am new to website hosting so forgive me if I am hard to understand. I signed up with Yahoo Small Business Web Hosting. I Created a domain name www.mychosenname@mychosenname.com If I do not continue with my subscription with yahoo and they cancel or I cancel my service... Will I still own my Domain Name? If not, is there a way I can delete it from my yahoo account so that I may register it with another provider at a later time? Thank You Very Much!

  1. if you have not paid for it, then it is not registered. you can check on this by doing a whois. The place you "Register" you domain is called a Regstrar. Yahoo used one in Austraila. So they are the ones you would have to contact. There are varying prices for registration so shop around. BTW this is my business.
  2. If you've opened your account through Y!SB and decide to cancel your account, yes you still own the domain name as long as it does not expire. You will NOT have access to your domain however. You will NOT contact MIT regarding your domain as Yahoo! will still control the domain registration. No, you do not have the ability to delete the registration of your domain name. You can however transfer your domain to any registrar as long as the domain is not expired, and is at least 60 days old.
