Considering a job in Web Design and Development or Graphic Design/Advertising?

I've liked designing things but what would I need to go through to get a good job in one of these fields? I'm familiar with HTML and other web programming languages. I also believe I would do good with creating advertisements. How good is the pay in these fields and is there a large demand for either of these? I'd prefer the Web Design/Development.

1. I got an IT degree with a specialization in web design and couldn't find a job in it. That field doesn't seem to be in heavy demand anymore. The pay would be very lucrative, but most of these jobs are being outsourced to foreign countries. Try networking instead. You'll have better luck.
2. You could master Dreamweaver software. Web Design and Development or Graphic Design is only companies waiting for a call to design someones website. Most of the work is consultation/ freelance. Many programmers with Java, C++ or Visual Basics etc. are the ones doing Web Design and Development or Graphic Design.
