How to check bulk domain names if they are free to register?

I want to register a domain to start a URL shortening service. I want to have a domain that is just 4 letters, like aa.be. Is there any easy way to check if ANY two letters .be, .us, .fr, .it etc. are available?

  1. Godaddy bulk lookup can check 10 common TLDs, but not the country codes you are looking for: http://www.godaddy.com/default.aspx The more successful shorteners that spell out some memorable abbreviation are probably already in the hands of domain speculators who will be asking a high price for them. You might have a glance at the Godaddy and other auctions, they have about 16 - 5 digit names, most costing thousands, 2 cheapies: xj.biz $9, lp.biz $62
  2. godaddy.com is best for checking available domain names in bulk.
  3. No registrar will allow you to find out if any 4 letter domains exist. You would need a program / script that will go to a registrars bulk registration page and try every possible combination out there. Not sure if that exists or not.
