SEO - Search Engine Optimization... how much to charge for this service?

My boss has suddenly appointed me to do all the SEO placement and submissions as well as site updates and configuations to get listed... It was my understanding that we were going to pay someone else to do this, someone with experience. I have some experience but I feel at this point it will take me alot more time and cost her alot more money to pay me to do it. My question is this: How much should I charge her? I am already her personal assistant and make a decent wage. I am thinking about finding a safe middle ground for payment and/or charging her extra funds for any time I spend working on the site, which will be ALL of my time at this point, since her site has just been created and barely online. What is your opinion?

  1. You should charge an amount proportional to the return for your employer. For example if your optimization work brings about a 1000% increase in customers and this means an annual company revenue increase of $100,000 then you would charge a percentage of the revenue increase. (say 20%). This kind of arrangement will be acceptable to your employer because they are paying by results and if you are good at SEO you should be able to make a lot of money out of it. Make sure you agree and sign the contract with your employer BEFORE you start work on the project.
