Do I need to register all domain names if I am starting a business?
For example let say I want to start www.myworldisgreat.com. Do I need to also register www.myworldisgreat.net, .org, .us, etc etc. And what about international domains like for italy www.myworldisgreat.it ?? This would cost a lot money wouldn't it??

- if you are starting your own business all you need to do is go to your local records court and submit the paper work for a doing business as (D.B.A) and get a reseller permit. (That is to start the actuall business) If you are going to buy a webpage domain then all you need to do is buy www.myworldisgreat.com (com=commerce)
- Need to, no. Might want to, maybe. If you don't someone else could. If you start to get big, the speculators will register them so that they can have similar names. Also you might decide that you want to buy them off and they make money that way. It is only about $10 a year per domain. So use your own judgment.
- Typically, those with businesses that plan on doing worldwide big business would register all domain names in order to stop copy sites from forming. If your business is going to be small, I wouldn't recommend going through the expense of it. Perhaps, start with registering the most common ones first, such as .com, and .net. Then as your business expands, if you feel the need, you can register the rest. Registering a domain, depending on where you go can range from free to about $35 dollars. Search for a reliable host that offers registration in a hosting package, that gives you the best deal, then if you register a .net, you can have it parked so it goes to your .com address as well.
- not need .
