How do I register a domain name myself?

I want to know how to register a domain name myself without pating for it from another company.

2. Pay the $5.99/year for someone else to do it. You won't be able ot do it yourself - you're not a registrar.
3. You can get in touch with local ISPs in your country and find out from them about domain name registration packages that they offer.
4. As one of the others answered here, only registrars have the authority to register domain names (especially if it's a .com). You can't register for one yourself without paying another company to do it, and that's just the way things have been since day 1.
