Yahoo domain names?

If I cancel my yahoo domain account, can I use the name somewhere else?

  1. i dont think so
  2. You need to transfer the name to another registrar. Don't cancel it. It make take awhile before you can re-register it.
  3. yeah first transfer then cancel
  4. NO
  5. Lots of conflicting answers here without specifics as to why. The answer to your question depends on the following: 1. How long the domain name has been registered. 2. What's stated in your registration agreement with Yahoo. Without the answers to the questions I posted above, I'll give some shorthand answers anyway: if the domain name's been registered for at least 60 days starting from its initial creation date, then yes you can transfer the registration elsewhere. Otherwise, you risk losing the domain name if you cancel prematurely. The only one who can "authoritatively" give you the answer is Yahoo themselves. You might want to ask them specifics about it.
